SALVATION QUESTION 166

QUESTION 166
Do all babies that die go to heaven? If so what verses would support this?

ANSWER:
There are only certain people would say they don't, unless they were elected to be saved. This is the view of certain extremist and not at all from the Bible. It is not in the heart of God that anyone should go to hell. He takes no delight in the death of the wicked. Ezekiel 33:11 Why would a loving God want babies in hell?

There were two offerings in the Old Testament for sin/sins. The sin offering in Leviticus 4:1-4, was basically for sins of ignorance or innocency. Then, there was the trespass offering, Leviticus 5:5... this was for the guilty sinner. These were used until Christ came and offered Himself as a sacrifice for sin. When Christ cried on the cross, "It is finished." Among other things He meant that all types were fulfilled. He was the sin and trespass offerings, when He died on the cross.

God's grace is greater than man's sin. The sin offering is mentioning in John 1:29. The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. It is not "sins" (trespasses) but "sin" (offering) that is what takes away the sin of the world. Every child is born a sinner. The sin offering takes care of that. So any child that dies in a state of innocence has been covered by the blood of Christ. When they are old enough to know that they have sinned, then they must repent and trust Christ to be saved.

This principle is seen in Adam and Eve. When they sinned God already had a provision for their sin. Genesis 3:21. Blood was shed and a covering made for them. Grace is greater than sin. Before Adam sinned God had a provision for man's sin. A lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Revelation 13:8. Jesus said, Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish. Matthew 18:14 He never come to "seek them" but Matthew 18:11, "For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost." They are lost at birth, but safe because of the blood of Christ.

Have you trusted Him yet? Only those who are trusting Him will go to be with those babies that have died in their innocency.
