PROPHECY QUESTION 8
QUESTION 8
ANSWER:
Will the temple be rebuilt in Jerusalem before the Lord comes again?
Since there are two stages to His coming it would depend upon which aspect of His coming you mean.
The Lord comes first for His people. This is often called "the rapture." It will be sudden and secret. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 and Hebrews 9:28). There will be a period of about seven years of trouble on this earth, Matthew 24:21 and Daniel 9:24. At the end of this time the Lord will come. Revelation 19:11. It would appear from Daniel 9:27 and 2 Thessalonians 2:2-4, that a temple will be rebuilt in Jerusalem at that time. The antichrist will sit in that temple and cause the Jewish sacrifices to cease.
As to who builds this temple, we are not told, but it will most likely be the Jews. They were told that they would be without a sacrifice, a priest and king, for many days. Hosea 3:4. This is true of them today. It is my understanding the plans are already under way, and the money to build this temple is available. It appears the temple will be built on the site which is now occupied by a Moslem mosque. It is possible that the temple or a tabernacle will be built and destroyed in the overthrowing of Jerusalem by the nations. The "Branch" in Zechariah 6:12-13 is Christ. He will build a temple when He reigns on this earth for a thousand years. In light of these and other current events, the Lord's coming is near.
How important it is; for the readers to be saved. If you have never come as a lost guilty sinner to Christ and have never trusted Him as your Saviour; you will be left here for the terrible tribulation that is sure to come. Why not receive Him by faith today.
