QUESTION 21
When the Father forsook Jesus on the cross, did he turn away from the God-man divine nature, that was in Him?

ANSWER:
When the Lord of glory became a man and dwelt in the person of Jesus of Nazareth He never cease to be what He always was. The divine nature never left the human nature of Jesus since and never will,. He was and is God incarnate, Colossians 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily In His humanity He functioned, not as God, but as an obedient Servant sustained by the Father, Isaiah 42:1, “Behold my servant, whom I uphold;...” When Jesus cried, “My God, My God why hath thou forsaken me” It means that the Father was no longer sustaining Him.; Jesus must bear the iniquity of us all ALONE. That the Father gave Him and the Spirit enabled Him, yet in those three hours of darkness Jesus alone was bearing our sins.

Him being forsaken by the Father does not mean that He turned His back on His Son. Psalm 22:24, For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard. In fact, God was never more pleased with His Son than when He was bearing our sins. Isaiah 53:10, ”Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put [him] to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin. Though God forsook Him yet He did not turn His back on Him. When Jesus died His human soul and spirit also the divine Son of God left His body and went down into Hades for three days Acts 2:31. Thus the Son of God who gave Himself for me. Galatians 2:20 The blood of God incarnate was shed,. Acts 20:28.

What about you? Are you turning your back on the one who hung on a Cross for your sins? He has made the provision and makes the proffer of forgiveness to all that repents and believe in Him and His sacrifice. Have you trusted Him?
