QUESTION 69:
What happens when I sin now that I have accepted Christ?

ANSWER:
To those who are born again all their sins, past–present and future were forgiven, as far as the eternal penalty goes. That person will never stand before God great white throne in Revelation 12:11-12 and be judged for their sins. Those sins were all judged at Calvary. The word forgiven is a rather weak word, remission is a better one. It means that God has removed them just as if they were never there. Now when a believer sins now, unknowingly, that sin is covered by the sin offering of Christ. It continually cleanses from those sins. (1 John 1:7)

If they sin and know it then the must confess that sin and God will forgiven them. If they don’t confess it then He will chastise them. 1 Corinthians 11:30-32, For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

We have these two aspects of judgment of sins in 1 John 1-2. In 1 John 2:12, it is judicial judgment and all our sins are forgiven. In 1 John 1:9 is it governmental forgiveness we need from time to time.

As “sinners” Christians are judge at the cross and are delivered from the penalty of sin (eternal damnation)
As “sons” they are judged in this life, because they are not condemned with the unsaved world
As “servants” they will be judged for their works at the Judgment Seat of Christ. (1 Corinthians 3:12)

If you are not saved, then you are a sinner headed for the judgment bar of God. Why wait? Repent of your sins and turn to God through faith is the blood of Christ that was shed for sins. His promise is; “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. Acts 16:31"
