QUESTION 3:
In 2 John 1:9-10 we read about the doctrine of Christ and people coming to your house without that doctrine are not to be received. What is the doctrine of Christ?

ANSWER:
The doctrine of Christ would necessarily have to be all that the Bible teaches about the Person and the work of Christ.

In the context of the Epistles of John it is vitally connected with His Person. The reason for his writings was to correct an error about the Person of Christ. Was He truly the Son of God? Did He come in the flesh? The previous verse says: "For many deceivers are entered into the world, who CONFESS NOT that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist." 2 John 1:7. 1 John 4:1-3 makes it clear that we are to test all teaching by this rule. "Every spirit (or teacher) that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God." This phrase could only mean three things. It could mean the deceiver is saying that He was not the Eternal Son of God who became flesh; that He did not rise from the dead in a bodily form; and, that He was not coming back in a bodily form. BEWARE of anyone who does not teach that Jesus IS the Eternal Son of God who became flesh; that He DID rise from the dead in a bodily form; and, that He IS COMING BACK in a bodily form. Do not receive them into your home. This also means do not listen to them, for in doing so you are bidding them God speed (encouraging them in their false teachings). Unless you can talk to them and reprove them of their false teachings do not listen to them. It is necessary to believe all three of the things of Christ in order to be saved.

Do you believe in the SON of God? Do you believe He arose bodily from the dead? Do you believe He is coming again? Have you trusted Him as your Saviour?
