QUESTION 66:
The birth of Christ, was it not a natural pregnancy? What was so different about it?

ANSWER:
This is an important question, because it deal with the human nature of the Son of God. His birth was very natural. Mary carried the child for the normal nine months. He was born in a very natural way. The miraculous thing about it all was the conception. He was miraculous conceived. In Luke 1:35, "The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing that shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God." Mary could not understand, so she said, "How can this be, seeing I know not a man." Luke 1:34 This made His birth different than all mankind. He, unlike us, pre-existed before His human birth. He ever was the eternal Son of God. He became what He never was before, without ceasing to be what He always was. He was born without a sinful human nature. He was the only "seed of the woman" (Genesis 3:15) ever born into the human race. A true human being, yet God in the flesh. (1 Timothy 3:16)

Since He was truly God-Man, He did not, nor could not have sinned. God purpose is sending Him into the world was to give Himself a ransom for sinners, so that we might be saved.In 1 Timothy 1:15, "....Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners..." In 1 John 3:8, "For this purpose the Son of God was manifested to destroy the works of the devil." Eventually the devil himself will be destroyed. (Hebrews 2:14).

While the world feasts itself, the Saviour is patiently waiting for people to repent and receive Him and the greatest of all gifts, eternal life. (Romans 6:23). "Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable gift." (2 Corinthians 9:15).
