QUESTION 41:
Since Jesus is the same, yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8), why can't He do miracle today?

ANSWER:
This verse, like many others, is taken out of context to support the modern faith worker's miraculous claims. That the Lord can do miracles today cannot be denied. He is God, He is all powerful. Abraham was asked, "Is anything too hard for the Lord?" Genesis 18:14. The modern faith movement lacks that which was true of New Testament miracles.

• 1. There were no failures in the New Testament, all were healed.
  
• 2. They all were visible.
  
• 3. There was no money involved. These things are not true of the modern faith workers.
  
  

Hebrews 13:8 could not apply universally to the Lord. He was God before He became a man, therefore He is not the same yesterday. He is a glorified man today. He never was that before. The verse in its context refers to His faithfulness to His people. "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." Hebrews 13:5. "So we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me." Hebrews 13:6. So, the verse in question is talking about His faithfulness to the Hebrew Christians at a time of persecution and trials. It can be applied to His people today since He never changes His attribute of "faithfulness." He is faithful to all His promises, and to His people. He is faithful in that He will judge those who do not come to Him. (Acts 17:31).

Dear Reader, do you know Him? Is He your Saviour? Have you trusted Him yet? "And they said, Believe (trust in) the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." Acts 16:31. "Whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John. 3:16. This is the word of God. It will be what you answer to now in salvation, or later in judgment. Faith is nothing more than believing what God says. DO you believe God?
