QUESTION 28:
Why didn't God write the Bible in a way that we would all understand it?

ANSWER:
If a doctor gave me a book on surgery I would not understand it at all. However, doctors do.

The problem with the Bible being hard to understand isn't on God's part, but on the part of man. "The natural man understandeth not the things of the Spirit of God: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned." 1 Corinthians 2:14. "There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God." Romans 3:11. In Romans 1:31, that among many other evils they are "without understanding."

This fact is revealed every day in our society. How blind they are. Homosexuality, abortion, common-law adultery, and fornication are accepted by society and even by some churches. Man is without understanding. We are told that the mind of man is blinded by the "god of this world" (Satan). (2 Corinthians 4:4). There is only one way to get understanding. "The entrance of THY WORD giveth light, it giveth understanding to the simple." Psalms 119:130. "But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding." Job 32:8. The Spirit, along with the Word of God is the key to understanding the Bible. He will first teach you that you are an unclean sinner in His sight. He will then teach you that Jesus died for the sinner and that through repentance and faith in Christ you can be saved.

What about you, Dear Reader? Are you saved? It should not be hard to understand the simple plan and way of salvation. The problem is man will not accept what is clearly revealed in God's word. "And the Light shineth in darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not." John 1:5. The word "comprehend" means "to lay hold of; to make one's own".
