BAPTISM QUESTION 8:
QUESTION 8:
Is baptism necessary far salvation?
ANSWER:
Throughout the Dark Ages, and even today, many believe baptism has some saving value and therefore it is necessary for salvation. Hence, they baptized babies to insure their salvation. The idea of baptismal regeneration is that it washed away sin. This is totally foreign to the Bible."...and without shedding of blood is NO REMISSION." Hebrews 9:22. Water cannot wash away sin. "For the life of the flesh is in the blood." Leviticus 17:11. "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23. The wages of sin is death. The wages of Christ is eternal life, starting right here on earth and then continuing on forever, with God. The blood of Christ speaks of His sinless life which was given as an offering and a sacrifice to God. Ephesians 5:2. "...when thou shalt make his (Jesus') soul an offering for sin..." Isaiah 53:10. Baptism is only for those who are saved. It is a symbolic way of identifying ourselves with Christ's death, burial, and resurrection. Romans 6:3. Abraham and all of the Old Testament saints knew nothing about baptism, yet they will be there in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 8:11. The thief on the cross was not baptized, yet he went to Paradise that day. Only believer's baptism is taught in the Scriptures. The baptism of infants is not scriptural. "Unto Him who loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood." Revelation 1:5.

There is no other way. Are you washed in the blood?
